• CASRock Fundamentals

CASRock is an integration of elasto-brittle plastic mechanics, rock mechanics, engineering geology, fracture mechanics, and cellular automata. It uses a local updating rule to solve engineering rockmass fracturing problem. The basic content includes: cellular automaton components, acoustic emission definition, heterogeneous characterization of materials, cell mechanical model, engineering rockmass stability index, etc.

  • The functions of CASRock include
  • the failure process of heterogeneous rocks under complex stress conditions,
  • the stability analysis of underground openings,
  • coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) process analysis,
  • spalling or rockburst risk analysis,
  • dynamic analysis,
  • creep analysis,
  • the rock cracking process from continuity to discontinuity, and
  • the large-scale parallel simulation of engineering rockmass.
  • CASRock has been applied to the following areas
  • water conservancy and hydropower engineering,
  • high level nuclear waste disposal,
  • CO2 geological sequestration, and
  • coal mining engineering.
